PDCA Standards can rock your world!

July 17th, 2008

Rock my world?  Really?

You bet.  If you’re a painting and decorating or coatings contractor, the PDCA Standards are an important part of operating your business more successfully.  If you’re a consumer of the painting contractors work, the PDCA Standards help ensure you receive the best value for your dollar.

How is it the PDCA Standards can benefit both the contractor and the customer/consumer?  They’re written to establish the correct path, a measurable practice and provide a ’standard’ from which the industry can operate.  Development of a new Standard starts with determining if there is a legitmate reason and need.  Data is gathered, a draft is written, edited and eventually, after a lot of review work and final editing, PDCA members and the public are invited to review and comment on a proposed new Standard.  After the comment period, the proposed PDCA Standard goes through a final approval process and finally becomes available to the world.

Learn more about all of the PDCA Standards. You can download a copy of all PDCA Industry Standards right now.

Make sure that all PDCA Standards are is referenced in your contracts. Consumers receive further assurance of a properly completed project by making sure all PDCA Standards are a part of the contract they sign. Bob Cusumano, Chairman of the PDCA Standards Committee suggests “I always recommend that in proposals, the painting contractor include the verbiage ‘All standards adopted by the Painting and Decorating Contractors of America (PDCA) are included in this proposal.’ If the painting contractor’s proposal is not made a part of the contract, then I would add to the contract ‘All standards adopted by the Painting and Decorating Contractors of America (PDCA) are a part of this contract.’”

There you go. Now go out and ‘rock your world’ using the PDCA Standards.
